Gift and pull bow DIY - Follow a short guide

Working with quilling strips is not a complicated task and it allows you to unleash your creativity. If you have decided to make Christmas decorations using quilling strips, you can find a guide here. If you enjoy DIYs, you can follow our short and clear tutorial, which will guide you through the process step-by-step:

1) Start by finding four strips. Then fold the strips in the middle.  

2) At one end, where the strips are not folded, cut a small triangle so that the end becomes pointed. It makes it easier to create the bows. 

3) Take the first strip and place it so the tip points down.

4) The next strip should now lie across with the tip to the right. Strip 2 should fold around the first vertical strip.

5) Now take the third strip and place it vertically but opposite strip 1, i.e. strip 3 is on the table with the tip up. Strip 3 should fold around strip 2.

6) Now take the last strip and place it across the third strip with the tip to the left. Strip 4 should grip strip 3 and at the same time have the tips between the first strip to the sides.

7) When you pull in all four strips to the side, they should lock so that you have a small square.

8) Next, fold the four strips into the braided square so you get two strips on all four sides. You do it going against the clock. The last strip you fold in should be locked by sticking it through the transverse corner in the square.

9) Next, bend the top right strip so that you get a small triangle whose oblique side points to the right. The strip points to the right.

10) Now you fold a triangle more so that the strip will point downwards. Now you have two triangles.

11) Now fold one triangle over the first triangle so that they lie double.

12) Next, get the strip through the transverse strip in the centre of the braided square itself. If necessary, fold the triangle backwards to get the strip through.

13) Rotate the star 90 degrees and repeat steps 9-13, that is, continue to fold the triangles that form the tips of the star. When you fold the four first tips, you turn the star around. Now repeat folding triangles to tips in the same way as steps 9-13. 

14) You now have four strips that stick out on top of the star. Fold them up. Lift up one of them and now fold the paper back into a triangle so that the slanted side is facing up. Rotate the strip so that the tip can pass through the transverse strip at the back of the folded triangle. The strip should go through one of the tips of the side. Repeat step 14 on the other three strips. Turn the star over and repeat step 14 four times.

15) Finish the fold by cutting off the excess strips from the sides of the star.

If you follow the instructions above, not much can go wrong. Practice makes perfect and you will quickly become comfortable with making Christmas decorations or other forms of decoration with these strips. You will also find yourself getting faster and faster at making these Christmas star bows.
