Crochet Azalea scarf

Download PDF here

If you want to crochet a scarf with a long, fine colour gradient then the Azalea scarf pattern is the perfect pattern for you. You can follow the guide even if you’re a beginner as it contains detailed instructions. The scarf is crocheted with chain stitches, half double crochet and turning chains. The abbreviations are explained below. One Infinity Hearts Azalea ball of yarn is used to create the scarf. The yarn contains the colour changes so you don’t have to change yarn as you crochet this scarf.

Size: approx. ca. 125 x 40 cm

Material: Infinity Hearts Azalea. Contains 55 % Wool and 45 % Acrylic. Running length 150 g = 600 m.

Yarn:1 Infinity Hearts Azalea Yarn.

Crochet needle:4,00 mm

Other tools: Darning needle to put together the ends

Abbreviations

s = stitch

ch = chain stitch

hdc = half double crochet

tc = turning chain (ch in the beginning of each row)

() =indicates the number of stitches in a row (including tc in the beginning)

Method

Make 3 ch

  1. row: make 3 hdc in the first s (4)

From here, you’ll crochet the backstitch.

Advice:
Crochet the first and last stitches in each row through both stitches. This way you get a nicer and slightly thicker edge than if you’d only crochet the backstitch.

  1. Start with 2 ch. 1 hdc in 1 s, 2 hdc in 2 s, 2 hdc in 3 s, 2 hdc in 4 s (8)
  2. Start with 2 ch. 1 hdc in 1. s, 2 hdc in 2. s 4 hdc, 2 hdc in 7. s, 2 hdc in 8. s. (12)
  3. Start with 2 ch. 1 hdc in 1. s, 2 hdc in 2. s, 8 hdc, 2 hdc in 11. s, 2 hdc in 12. s (16)
  4. Start with 2 ch. 1 hdc in 1. s, 2 hdc in 2. s, 12 hdc, 2 hdc in 15. s, 2 hdc in 16. s (20)
  5. Start with 2 ch. 1 hdc in 1. s, 2 hdc in 2. s, 16 hdc, 2 hdc in 19. s, 2 hdc in 20. s (24)
  6. Start with 2 ch. 1 hdc in 1. s, 2 hdc in 2. s, 20 hdc, 2 hdc in 24. s, 2 hdc in 20. s (28)

Continue until you have no more yarn or until your scarf is the desired size.

The pattern:

Each row starts with 2 ch (turning-ch which corresponds to 1 hdc). Then work 1 hdc in 1 s, 2 hdc i the second s, 1 hdc in each stitch until the last two s, where you do two hdc in each s.
