A pretty classic sock/stocking for the little ones, knitted in the softest baby merino from Infinity Hearts. A quality that holds the shape really well and keeps feet warm in the winter. The socks can also be knitted in a thinner or thicker quality if you want a different feel or use. The socks can be folded into the shaft or used as long stockings. If you want knee socks you can simply extend the length of the shaft, but you’ll need extra yarn for this.

Fits feet that measure approximately: 10 (11) 12 (13-14) (14-16) cm

Material 

Infinity Hearts Baby Merino. Contains 100% wool. Length 50 g. = Approx. 170 m.

Amount of yarn needed: 

Approx. 1 skein per couple of socks 

Knitting needles no.: stocking needles size size 3½ mm or whatever fits 10 x 10 cm = 28 m x 38 p

Abbreviations 

n = needle

s = stitch 

rs = right side 

ws = wrong side 

t = together 

Dec. = decrease with stitches over (work as follows: 1 row loosely, 1 row, pull the loose mask over)

Method 

Cast 28 (32) 36 (40) 44 s on needle 3½, divide them on 4 stocking needles to form a circle

Now work 6 (7) 8 (10) 10 cm rib (1rs, 1ws).

Now knit the heel over the stitches on needle 4 and 1 so that the start / folding thread is in the middle of the heel.

Knit rib (1rs, 1ws) over the 2 needles, back and forth until the heel measures 2½ (3) 3½ (4) 4 cm

The next needle is from the right side, knit as a turning needle, as follows:

9 (10) 11 (12) 12 rs, 1 decrease. (= 1 rs loosened, 1 rs, pull loose stitch over) 1 rs, turn

1 ws loose, 5 ws, 2 ws t, 1 ws, turn

1 row loosened, 6 rs, 1 decrease, 1 rs, turn

1 ws loosened, 7 ws, 2 ws t, 1 ws, turn

Continue this way until all the stitches are knit, which is reduced in the number of stitches.

Now work 7 (9) 11 (13) 13 s on each side of the heel, leave stitches on needles 4 and 1, continue to knit.

Continue the work where needle 1 and 4 are knitted stockinette and needle 2 and 3 are knitted rib (1rs, 1ws)

Work each round on the heel by knitting the last 2 s on first n rs t and knit dec over the first 2 s on 4th n.

Repeat decreases until there are 28 (32) 36 (40) 44 s remaining in one round. Now work straight up, still with stockinette stitch under foot and rib on top of foot, until piece measures 6 (8) 10 (12) 14 cm.

Now take the toe as follows:

Knit 2 rs t at the end of needle 1 and 3 and knit dec at the beginning of n 2 and 4. Take in with 2, 2, 1 laps between the decreases and then on each needle until 4 s remain. on the round. Cut the yarn and pull the yarn through the stitches.

Staple the ends.
