Instructions

Crochet cord - See image guide #1

Colour 190:

Make 111 chain stitches

Start in 2nd s from the hook and crochet sl st in all back stitches on the ch-row.

Cut the tail so you have approx. 10 cm of yarn for assembly.

Beads (x2) ) – See image guide #2

Colour 190:

1: 6 dc in magic ring (6) – make sure not to tighten the hole too much so it closes, since you later need to pull a thread through the bead.

2: *inc.* (12)

3: *inc, dc* (18)

4-8: dc in all s. (18)

Put a wooden bead into the crocheted half-bead. Position the wooden bead so that its hole fits around the hole in the crocheted half-bead. Make sure to get the tail from the magic ring out of the bead so you can use it to tighten the hole closed for later.

9: *dc, dec* (12)

10: *dec* (6)

Lead the cord from the music box/the crochet cord through the ball. Tie a large knot at the end of the cord.

Cut the yarn on the bead and sew around the front stitch and tighten, weave in ends and cut tails.

Tighten the magic ring around the crochet cord, weave in ends and bind off. Place the bead at the end of the cord by the knot.

Circles (x2) – see image guide #3

Cut the yarn on the first circle and you can weave in the ends. The first circle will later be addressed as C1.

Do NOT cut the yarn on the second circle, since you need it to continue around when you make the sunrays. The second circle will later be addressed as C2.

Preparations for crocheting the sunrays onto the 2 circles.

Place 10 stitch markers on each circle.

C1: Mark in stitch no 1, 14, 21, 34, 41, 54, 61, 74, 81, 94. You now have 12 and 6 stitches between the markers.

C2: Mark in stitch no 7, 20, 27, 40, 47, 60, 67, 80, 87, 100. You now have 6 and 12 stitches between the markers.

Please note:

  • The marked stitches should be used to crochet the two circles together
  • Crochet the sunrays with stitches from C1 and C2. Finish each sunray with cutting the yarn and weaving it in at the tip.
  • Decreases shall be made over decreases on the sunrays.
  • All dc must be made from the front, even when crocheting dec, where the 2 stitches are on each their circle.
  • Music box and cord should be attached when you have 2 sunrays left.

(See image guide #4) Place the circles with each wrong side meeting. Make sure the circles lie with the beginning stitches on top of each other. The first sunray is a small one and crocheted like this:

Continue with the yarn from C2 and crochet 6 dc on C2. Make a decrease in stitch no 7 (marked) from C2 and stitch no 94 (marked) on C1.

Now the two circles are joined, and you continue with 6dc on C1 (in stitch 95-100). Make a decrease in stitch no 1 (marked) on C1 and stitch no 100 (marked) on C2.

Now, you crochet around with both sides of the sun figure, like this:

2: 5dc, dec, 5dc, dec (12)

3: 4dc, dec, 4dc, dec (10)

4: 3dc, dec, 3dc, dec (8)

5: 2dc, dec, 2dc, dec (6)

Cut the yarn, sew around the front loop and tighten. Weave in and cut ends.

Then crochet the sunrays alternating between a small and a big one.

Big sun rays – See image guide #5

Colour 190:

Crochet a stitch loop into the stitch before the formerly marked stitch – on the right side of the small sunray on C1. Make a dec. In the same stitches as on the small sunray on the left, 12 dc on C2, dec in the 2 marked stitches on respectively C1 and C2, 12 dc on C1 (last dc in the same stitches as the yarn was pulled through in the beginning of the round.
