Explanations

1/1 tbl rib: * 1 tbl K, 1 P. * Repeat from * to * the entire round.

Increase rib: From 1/1 tbl rib to 1/2 tbl rib: * 1 tbl K, 1 s tbl K in loop between s, 1 P *. Repeat from * to * the entire round.

From 1/2 tbl rib to 1/3 tbl rib: * 2 tbl K, 1 s tbl K between s, 1 P *. Repeat from * to * the entire round.

From 1/3 tbl rib to 1/4 tbl rib: * 3 tbl K, 1 s tbl K between s, 1 P. *. Repeat from * to * the entire round.

Garter stitch: K with circular needle on all rounds.

Increase on yoke: Pick 1 s up in loop between 2 s, knit s tbl K.

German short rows on the back: Knit short rows; Turn the work where it says, ’turn’, slip s purlwise with yarn in front of n (regardless of whether it is a K or P n) and tighten s to create two loops - continue knitting. Knitting the turning chain: Knit s which consists of 2 loops as one. By using this method, you avoid creating holes. The method is practically undetectable.

Decrease on sleeves: Pm at the beginning of the round. Under the sleeve at the beginning of the round, knit 2 K tog, knit to 2 s before marker, knit 2 tbl K tog. You have now decreased 2 s on the round.

Note: The jumper is knitted from the top down on circular needles and is divided by the armhole. Let the s of the sleeves rest, while you knit the body. Then go back and knit the sleeves. At the top of the yoke, there is a rib pattern made through the back of stitch. The jumper is made higher on the back with short rows. The neckline is deep and round. All borders are knitted 1/1 tbl rib. If the pattern only shows one number, then that number applies to all sizes.

Instructions

Yoke:

Cast on 136 (136) 144 (144) s on double pointed needle or circular needle/magic loop no 3. Join s on circular n, be careful not to twist s. Pm at the beginning of the round. Knit 10 rounds 1/1 tbl rib. On the last round increase from 1/1 tbl rib to 1/2 tbl rib. You now have 204 (204) 216 (216) s on the round. Knit 10 rounds 1/2 tbl rib. On the last round, you increase from 1/2 tbl rib to 1/3 tbl rib. You now have 272 (272) 288 (288) s on the round. Knit 10 rounds 1/3 tbl rib.

On the last round, you increase from 1/3 tbl rib to 1/4 tbl rib. You now have 340 (340) 360 (360) s on the round. Knit 10 rounds 1/4 tbl rib.

Make it higher on the back

For the rest of the work, you knit stocking stitch. The backpiece is knitted in german short rows to make it longer. Knit to 40 (40) 45 (45) s before the beginning of the round, turn. Knit 45 s, turn. Knit 55 s, turn. Knit 65 s, turn. Knit 75 s, turn. Knit 85 s, turn. Knit 95 s, turn. Knit 105 s, turn. Continue to the beginning of the round. Knit 2 more rounds.

Yoke - continued

On the next round, you increase 34 (34) 36 (36) s evenly. Equivalent to 1 s per 10 s. = 374 (374) 396 (396) s on round. Knit 10 (12) 14 (16) round. On the last round you increase 34 (42) 38 (50) s evenly. Equivalent to 1 s per 11 (approx. 9) approx. 10 (approx. 8) s. = 408 (416) 434 (446) s on round. Knit 10 (12) 14 (16) round. On the last round, you increase 24 (40) 38 (50) s evenly. Equivalent to 1 s pr 17 (approx. 10) approx. 11 (9) s. = 432 (456) 472 (496) s on round. Knit 14 (16) 14 (16) round.

Armhole and dividing the work

From the start of the round, knit right sleeve 92 (98) 100 (106) s on a cn, knit over the front piece 124 (130) 136 (142) s, knit left sleeve 92 (98) 100 (106) s on a cn, knit over the back 124 (130) 136 (142) s. Leave the sleeve stitches for now. TIP: Instead of putting s on a cn, you can knit the s and then put it on a piece of yarn – preferably cotton. Tie a knot so s does not slip off from the piece of yarn.

Next round you cast on 12 (12) 14 (14) s for the armhole, knit over the front piece s and cast on 12 (12) 14 (14) s for the other armhole, knit the back piece s.

Body

Continue with stocking stitch on the body’s 272 (284) 300 (312) s until arm to armhole measures 28 cm. Knit 8cm 1/1 tbl rib, cast off all s.

Sleeves

From (RS) and in extension of the sleeve’s s, you knit up 14 (14) 16 (16) s on the edge of the body's armhole = 106 (112) 116 (122) s on the sleeve. Pm at the start of the round = under the sleeve. Knit the sleeve in stocking stitch. Knit 8 (2) 10 (8) round. Then decrease 2 s on every 6th (6.) 5. (5.) round, 22 (24) 25 (26) times in total. Change to double pointed needle when s no longer has room on the circular needle. Knit until the sleeve measures 39cm (or the desired length). There are now 62 (64) 66 (70) s on the round. Knit 8cm 1/1 tbl rib. Cast off all s. Knit the other sleeve the same way. You can try on the jumper as you go. You can make the sleeve or body of the jumper longer if desired. NOTE: Remember to buy more yarn if you want to make it longer.

Finishing

Weave in ends and your jumper is finished.
