Measurements

21cm long, 32cm on the widest part

Materials

Yarn

Infinity Hearts Lily. Consists of 70 % Cotton, 30 % SW Merino wool Yarn length 50 g = approx. 100 s.

Yarn consumption

2 skeins

Knitting tension: 18 stitches per 10cm.

Needles: 40cm circular needles, 4.5mm.

You will also need a longer cable if you increase the number of stitches. And possibly an extra cable where the stitches on the front piece can "rest" while you finish knitting the back piece (you knit each part separately).

Abbreviations

s = stitch(es)

K = Knit

P = Purl

n = needles

PSM = Place stitch marker

SM = Stitch marker

RS = Right side

WS = Wrong side

Instructions

Cast on 69 s on 4.5, 40cm needles.

PSM to mark the beginning of the round.

Knit one round.

Then knit the entire neck in this pattern:

Round 1: * K2, P1* - Repeat for the entire round

Round 2: Knit the entire round

Repeat Round 1 and Round 2 11 times more = 24 rounds in total. Round 2 is the last round.

Next round, you increase 3 s in one to maintain the pattern on the back and place SM to mark off for the saddle shoulders.

Instructions: Use the left needle to pick up the yarn between 2 stitches from the round below, pick up yarn from the front and K1 in front loop, K1 in back loop, K1 in front loop = Inc 3 s. Continue to knit 13 s in the pattern, PSM, Knit 6 s = shoulder seams, PSM, Knit 30 s, PSM, Knit 6 s = other shoulder, PSM, knit 14 s.

You have now marked off 30 s for the back and the front and 6 s for each shoulder = 72m

Saddle shoulder increase:

You continue in the pattern the entire time, over the shoulders and the rest of the neck, while you increase BEFORE 1st and 3rd marker and AFTER 2nd and 4th marker.

Instructions:

BEFORE THE MARK:

Make new stitch right-leaning.

Use left needle to pick up the yarn between 2 stitches from the round below, pick up yarn from the back and knit in front loop.

AFTER THE MARK:

Make new stitch left-leaning.

Use left needle to pick up the yarn between 2 stitches from the round below, pick up yarn from the front and knit in back loop.

So, only increase on the front and back, the number of shoulder seams remains the same. Continue with the increases in the pattern. Increase as described on each round a total of 15 times. = 132 stitches.

Knit next round in the pattern, while casting off the shoulder seams.

= 60/60 stitches for back and front.

You now knit the front and the back separately like this:

Back: (use an extra cable and let the stitches for the front ‘rest’ on there):

Cut yarn, remove SM, move the remaining 31 s from the left needle over to the right needle and proceed to knit back and forth (NOTE! If you have followed the pattern correctly, the first needle should be round 2 in the pattern), like this:

Needle 1 (WS):

With yarn in front, slip first s purl-wise, purl until 1 s remains, Finish with K1. Turn.

Needle 2 (RS): With yarn in front, slip first s purl-wise, * P1, K2, repeat until 2 s remain, P1, finish with K1. Turn

Repeat needle 1 and needle 2 14 times more (or more times if you want a longer neck).

Knit needle 1 one more time, turn.

Cast off from RS with K.

Front:

Knit the same as the back but start from «Needle 1 (WS)».

Weave in ends.

Wash and block if you wish.
