Free pattern for Soft Pennant Scarf

A lovely and ultra soft scarf perfect for autumn and winter. The shawl is crocheted in one thread Nordic Sky Bergen and one thread Nordic Sky Oulu Kid-Silk.

Size and materials

Sizes:

One size. Width: 187 cm. Length in the middle: 31 cm.

Yarn consumption:

• 2 x Nordic Sky Bergen
• 2 x Nordic Sky Oulu Kid-Silk

Crochet hook:  4.5 mm or the size you need to hit the tension

Tension: 20 htr blo/12 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Construction: the scarf is crocheted from one end to the other. Start by making increases on every other row until you reach the middle of the piece, here start decreases on every other row until you reach the end of the tip.

Abbreviations

Ch: chain

Ss: slip stitch

htr blo = Half treble crochet in the back loop only

2 htr bl ct = (decrease) 2 htr in the back loop are crocheted together

Step by step

1. Row: 2 ch, 2 htr blo in 2nd ch from the hook = 2 l.

2. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in first l, 2 htr blo in next l = 3 l.

3. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in every l = 3 l.

4. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in next 2 l, 2 htr blo in last l = 4 l.

5. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in every l = 4 l.

6. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in next 3 l, 2 htr blo in last l = 5 l.

7. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in every l = 5 l.

8. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in next 4 l, 2 htr blo in last l = 6 l.

9. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in every l = 6 l.

10. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in the next 5 l, 2 htr blo in the last l = 7 l.

11. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in every l = 7 l.

Continue increasing by 1 l at the end of even rows until you reach the middle of the scarf (113th row and 59 l).

Now start decreasing.

114. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in the next 57 l, 2 htr bl ct = 58 l.

115. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in every l = 58 l.

116. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in the next 56 l, 2 htr bl ct = 57 l.

117. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in every l = 57 l.

118. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in the next 55 l, 2 htr bl ct = 56 l.

119. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in every l = 56 l.

120. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in the next 54 l, 2 htr bl ct = 55 l.

121. Row: 1 ch, 1 htr blo in every l = 55 l.

Continue like this with decreases at the end of even rows until you have 3 l left, crochet 1 htr blo and the last 2 l together. Cut and fasten the thread.

it is possible to block the scarf. However, I have chosen not to, as I don't think it's necessary. Additionally, it would lose some of its elasticity in the ribbing. If you choose to block anyway, expect the scarf to be a few cm bigger.

The scarf should be washed by hand in wool detergent. Avoid using fabric softener.
