With Meida Alum Alu Vat you have an ingenious insulating material that can be used for potholders or tea cozies. Alu Vat is easy to sew in as an intermediate layer between two pieces of fabric or crocheted and knitted squares. Aluvat can also be used as a lining in bags if you create small clutches, make-up purses or handbags yourself, because it is a lightweight yet firmer material than ordinary lining.
Meida Alum Alu Vat is made of aluminium coated polyethylene and is 150 cm wide. The fabric has two sides, one of which is coated with the silver aluminium and the other with white wadding, which retains heat and has a breathable effect. The aluminium wadding feels very light between the hands. It is a fine insulating material that keeps out cold, heat and wind, while the wadding on the other side keeps in the warmth. That's why Alu Vat is ideal as an insulating layer in potholders and tea cosies, either to protect against high heat or to retain heat.
For optimum effect, it is important to use a double layer of Alu Vat. It is also important that the two silver sides face each other.
Aluvat can be machine washed at 40˚C degrees with neutral soap and can be ironed at low temperature.
