Prym Knitting mill Mini / Knitting dolly

The Prym Knitting Mill mini is an automated version of a Knitting Mill. It is used to make horsehair, i.e. knitted cord, which you can use to make jewellery, belts, bag handles and much more. The knitting mill works best with yarn designed for needle size 3-3.5 mm.

The kit consists of a cylinder with four rotating hooks. In the middle of the cylinder is a hole from which the finished horsehair comes out. In addition, a hand crank, a plumb bob and a Danish instruction manual are included. The cylinder itself, hand crank and plumb bob cover are made of dark blue plastic, while the plumb bob and needles are made of aluminium. The cylinder itself is approximately 14 cm high and 4.1 cm in diameter.

Instructions

Follow the description in picture 2. On unpacking you will find the three parts of the product; the cylinder, the handwheel and the solder. Attach the handwheel to the side of the cylinder. Pass the end of the yarn loop (7) through the loop (1) in the middle of the knitting needle, through the small notch on the transparent edge of the cylinder (2) and down through the tube (3). Then slowly turn the handle (5) clockwise until the yarn is caught by the first hook (4). Pass the yarn behind the second needle, i.e. skip it, and turn slowly until the third needle catches the yarn. Make a loop in the end of the yarn and attach the solder (6) to the loop. Now pass the thread behind the fourth needle while turning the handwheel. On the second round, the yarn should be caught by all the needles. From the third turn you can turn faster with the handwheel.

If the horsehair is to be longer than one skein, simply tie the yarn in a knot. When you have reached the desired length, cut the yarn and fasten the loops from the four hooks together with a larger needle.
