Product description

If you think knitting is a bit too difficult, or your kids want to try an easy way to make lots of different projects in yarn, knitting rings are a great way to make needlework that's for everyone. Whether you're an experienced crafter or completely new to the craft, you'll find knitting rings easy to learn. Instead of knitting needles, you use a ring with a stitch on it, a needle and a hook. See the instructions below.

This knitting ring set from Infinity Hearts contains 4 knitting rings in 4 different sizes, a needle and a hook. All parts are plastic except the hook itself which is steel. The rings come in 4 different colours so you and your children can easily tell them apart. The smallest ring is green and measures about 14 cm in diameter. The next size is purple and measures about 19 cm in diameter. The next size is orange and measures about 24 cm in diameter. The largest is pink and measures approximately 29 cm in diameter.

The sizes of the rings allow you to make many different things. On the back there are instructions on how to make a nice hat. If you make it on the 4 rings, the whole family will have new hats in no time.

The needle included is made of pink plastic, while the hook has a green plastic handle and the hook itself is made of steel. The needle is approximately 7.3 cm, while the full length of the hook is approximately 13 cm.

Instructions

You will find instructions on the back of the packaging. It is a guide to how to knit a hat, but is also the general procedure.

Step 1: Wrap the yarn around the hook on the side of the knitting ring. Let 15 cm of yarn hang down from the hook. Hold the knitting ring in front of you and pull the yarn around the inside of the knitting ring. Wrap the yarn loosely around each seam counterclockwise and work all the way around the knitting ring. Press the yarn down against the edge of the knitting ring.

Step 2: Continue wrapping the yarn around each seam so that you have two rows of yarn on the knitting ring. Now wrap the yarn around the outside hook on the side of the knitting ring as a safety as you knit around the ring.

Step 3: Use the hook to lift the bottom row of yarn up over the top row of yarn and over the seam starting from the seam to the right of the outside hook. Work clockwise around the knitting ring. You have now knitted the first row. Now take the end of your yarn and wrap the yarn around the stitches again counterclockwise. Once you have wrapped the yarn around each seam again, use the hook and again lift the yarn over the bottom row. If you want to knit a hat, assume that a small hat is 7", a medium hat is 8" and a large hat is 9". Choose the size hat you want and continue knitting.

Step 4: If you want an edge on the hat and are 3", 4" or 5" into the knitting, grab the first row of stitches inside the knitting ring and pull the stitches over the corresponding stitches. This way you will fold a border for the hat. Once you have worked your way around the knitting ring, knit this row by lifting the bottom row of stitches up over the top row and on over the seam. Continue knitting until you have the desired size hat.

Step 5: When you have finished knitting, cut the yarn and make sure there is about 45 cm of yarn from the hat. Thread the yarn with the sewing needle. Starting with the first stitch, feed the sewing needle through the yarn stitch on the stitch and lift the stitch off the stitch. Continue passing the eye through the yarn stitches. This way you get the knitting project off the knitting ring.

Step 6: Pull the yarn together to tighten it and make a knot. You can now staple the ends together or make a pompom to sew onto the hat.
