These cable needles make it easy to knit cables of 6 stitches or more. The shape of the needles makes them ideal for holding stitches for knitting.

First move half of the stitches onto a cable needle. Then work the other half of the stitches in the cable. Finally, knit the stitches on the cable needle.

When knitting cables, you place half of the stitches on an auxiliary needle and let them wait either in front or behind the work. If they wait in front of the work, the cable turns to the left. If they wait behind the work, the cable turns to the right.

The number of stitches in the cable determines the width. More stitches make it wider, while fewer stitches make it narrower. Basically, you knit as many rows as stitches before repeating the cable. For example, if you want to knit a cable over 6 stitches, you repeat the cable on every 6th row and turn it alternately to the right and left.
