Product description

The Prym Knitting Mill midi is a semi-automatic knitting machine. With the knitting mill you can automatically knit tubes of 6 cm in diameter or flat pieces of yarn up to 20 cm wide. The Prym Knitting Mill midi is best suited for yarns designed for needle size 2-6 mm.

The knitting mill is made of plastic. The knitting mill is shaped like a tube. On top is the knitting mill itself with 20 needles. The knitting wheel itself is moved by turning the handle on the side. On the opposite side of the handle is a function selector, so you can easily choose whether you want to knit a flat piece or a tube. A transparent plastic lid for the knitting mill itself is also included. Finally, there's a handy handle so the knitting mill is easy to carry. The four feet with non-slip foam rubber ensure that the knitting mill stands firmly on the table.

The Prym Knitting Mill midi is a durable tool for automatic knitting. The midi knitting mill from German Prym is a quality product at a good price.

Guides

While knitting, you should keep an eye on:

  • that there is enough yarn hanging loosely from the yarn loop
  • that no stitches jump off the needles
  • that you regularly pull down the knitted piece a little

How to knit a tube:

Follow the description in picture 2. First set the button to the right position, i.e. the circle (C). Remove the plastic cover (G). Then turn the handle (B) slowly clockwise until the dark blue needle in the knitting wheel is to the right of the yarn inlet (D). Leave about 40 cm of yarn hanging down in the hole in the knitting needle. Pass the yarn through the yarn inlet and attach it to the plastic ring (E), which holds the yarn taut while knitting.

Thread the yarn under the coloured needle and then put it behind the next needle (skip it). Slowly turn the handle clockwise until the third needle opens. Make sure to tighten the yarn so that it is not too loose. Put the yarn under the third needle and behind the fourth. Turn the handle clockwise again and skip every other needle. Continue in this way until you are back at the coloured needle. Then put the yarn under each needle (do not skip any of them). Put the lid back on the knitting machine. Leave about 3 m of yarn hanging loosely from the yarn loop. Turn the handle clockwise until the tube is the desired length.

To finish, turn the handle slowly clockwise until the dark blue needle in the knitting machine is to the right of the yarn inlet. Cut the yarn from the yarn loop, leaving about 1 m of yarn hanging down from the knitting project. Remove the yarn from the plastic ring and thread it with a sewing needle. Continue turning the knitting needle clockwise until the dark blue needle has disappeared. Now insert the needle through the stitch from the wrong side and towards the right side. Now turn the knitting needle one needle at a time and cast off each stitch that way.

To knit a flat piece:

First set the knob to the left position, i.e. square (C). Remove the cover (G). Turn the handle (B) anticlockwise until you can no longer turn it. The dark blue needle is now to the right of the yarn inlet. Pass the yarn through the yarn inlet (D) and attach it to the plastic ring (E), which holds the yarn taut while knitting. Let about 40 cm of yarn hang down between the coloured needle and the first white needle and down through the hole in the knitting needle.

Slowly turn the handle clockwise until the first white needle catches the yarn. Lift the yarn behind the second needle (skip it). Continue turning the handle until the third needle catches the yarn. Lift it behind the fourth needle. Continue turning the handle clockwise, skipping every other needle until you are back at the first white needle. The handle should not turn any more. Leave about 3 m of yarn hanging loosely from the yarn loop.

Slowly turn the handle counter-clockwise until the knitting machine stops. Put the lid back on. Turn the handle clockwise again. Continue back and forth until the knitted piece is the desired length. Be extra careful to keep the yarn tight when starting a new round to get a neat edge. When knitting a flat piece, 4 of the needles are not used.

When finishing, turn the handle slowly counterclockwise until you can't turn it anymore. Cut the yarn from the yarn loop, leaving about 1 st of yarn hanging down from the knitting project. Slowly turn the knitting wheel in a clockwise direction until the first needle is to the right of the yarn inlet. Continue turning the knitting wheel clockwise until the dark blue needle has disappeared. Then thread the yarn with a sewing needle. Now insert the needle through the stitch from the wrong side towards the right side. Now turn the knitting needle one needle at a time and cast off each stitch that way.
