By crocheting the pillows yourself, you can put your personal touch on the living room and make sure your sofa pillows are not like the neighbours. This guide gives you the pattern for sofa pillows in size 30 x 50 cm and 40 x 40 cm, crocheted with Mayflower Ribbon Fabric Yarn. The guide below contains a list of the materials you will need and an image guide for making front and back post crochet stitches. With thorough guidance, the pillows can be made by both beginners and practised. Then grab the crochet needle and get started on giving your living room a nicer look.

Pillow with basket pattern (30 x 50 cm)

Size: 30 x 50 cm

Material: Mayflower Ribbon Fabric Yarn. Contains 60% cotton, 20% polyamide, 20% viscose. Running length 250 grams = approx. 125 m. 

Yarn consumption: 4 skeins

Crochet hook: 8,00 mm

Other tools: Mounting pad 30 x 50 cm and Stoppel pin for stapling ends.    

Abbreviations

st = stitch

ch = chain

dc = double crochet

tr = treble

() = number of stitches in the row

rw = row

Front post crochet = a treble around the stitch from the previous round (see instructions below) 

Guide to the front post crochet

The treble is made from the front around the stitch from the previous round:

 

 

Guide to rear post crochet

The treble is made from behind around the stitch from the previous round

 

Procedure (size 30 x 50 cm)

Make 42 ch

In each row turn with 3 ch and next row start in third stitch from the needle. (see picture below)

 

Turn the work and crochet 1 dc in each st (42)

A) 1st row: Alternately 3 post crochet stitches from the front and 3 rear post crochet stitches (42)

2nd Row: Repeat 1st Row (3 front post crochet stitches and 3 rear post crochet stitches (42)

B) 3rd row: Alternatively, 3 post crochet stitches from behind and 3 post crochet stitches from the front (42) 

 

 

4th rd: Repeat 3rd rd (3 back stitches and 3 front stitches (42)

A and B are repeated until you have 18 rows (ie you make 9 A g B pieces - where you start with the A piece and end with the A piece).

Then crochet all around. NOTE: Make 2 sc in the corners.

Installation Instructions

  •  
  • Crochet two pieces / sides
  • Crochet the sides together with sc (remember 2 sc in the corners)
  • Before crocheting the fourth side, fit the mounting pad between the sides.

TIP: You can also crochet 3 sides together and attach a zipper on the fourth side instead.

Look up 36 ch.

Turn the work and crochet 1 dc each st (36)

A) 

1st Row : Alternately 3 front post crochet stitches and 3 rear post crochet stitches (36) 

2nd Row : Repeat 1st row (3 front post crochet stitches and 3 rear post crochet stitches (36)

B) 

3rd rd: Alternately 3 back post crochet stitches and 3 front post crochet stitches (36) 

4th rd: Repeat 3rd rd (3 rear post crochet stitches and 3 front post crochet stitches (36)

A and B are repeated until you have 22 rows (ie you make 11 A g B pieces - where you start with the A piece and end with the A piece). Then crochet fireworms all around. NOTE: Make 2 sc in the corners.
