Free pattern for crochet apple – Karla’s apple
Why is it called Karla's Fruit – Karla’s apple?
The designer wanted to make a lot of play food for her niece Karla's 2 year birthday. However, she thought that a completely ordinary round apple was too "boring" and therefore tried to make it in a way so that there was more "play in it" - this was the result.
The pattern is named after the designer's niece, therefore it is called Karla's fruit - Karla's apple.

The stitches are divided into 6 "leaves" of 10 stitches, crochet in rows and reversed with 1 ch.
“Leafs”
Use needle 3.0 - color: red
19-25 rw. dc in all stitches (10) (7 rows)
26 rw. indt, 6 dc, indt (8)
27 rw. dc in alle stitches (8)
28 rw. indt, 4 dc, indt (6)
29 rw. dc in alle stitches (6)
30 rw. indt, 2 dc, indt (4) – Note: At the last leaf stop here, see the stem.
31 rw. dc in alle stitches (4) - Make 5 ch and attach with sl st at the other end.
At the start of new leaves, the yarn is attached with sl st in the last leaf.
At the last leaf, make one sl st in the 1st stitch on the leaf next to it. So you do:
1 sl st - 10 ch - 1 sl st , turn and continue with the rows, as with the other leaves - however, sl st must be skipped.
Stem
Use needle 3.0 - colour: brown
The stem must be made on the last leaf, which is stopped at row 30 and changes to brown in the turning mask.
31 rw. 4 sc, 2 ch (6) collect for a ring with sl st
32-40 rw. Crochet sc in spiral (9 rows)
Break the yarn with a long end, weave the yarn through the stitches, close the hole by pulling the yarn - pass the yarn down through the stem and onto the side to close the opening.
Make 6 ch with the end of the yarn in which the blade is to be made and stapled.
Leaf
Use needle 2.5 - colour: green
Attach the yarn with one sl st on the first ch in the stitch row. Crochet in the stitches to make the blade.
1 rw. 1 sc
2 rw. *2 hdc*
3 rw. *1 hdc, 1 dc*
4 rw. *2 dc*
5 rw. *2 dc, 1 3-dstgm, 2 dc * - Repeat on the opposite side
6 rw. *2 dc*
7 rw. *1 dc, 1 hdc*
8 rw. *2 hdc*
9 rw. 1 sc
10 rw. sl st
When the leaf is made, the brown yarn is pushed a bit down through the leaf and into the stem.
Attach the two green ends to the leaf.
Make a small end with brown on the underside of the apple. For this, you need 6 sc in the magic ring.
The finished apple measures 9 cm. in height incl. the stem, and 22 cm. in circumference.
