Free Bread Basket Pattern
This bread basket can be used for multiple purposes. The designer made it for her boyfriend and filled it with snacks and sweets as a nice little gift. The basket is made using half treble and the edges are so high that you can fold it down as shown in the photo. Crochet the basket in Infinity Hearts Ribbon Fabric Yarn.
Measurements
The bread basket measures approx. 23cm in diameter and 10cm in height (14cm if you don’t fold it).
Materials
- Crochet hook size 7.00mm
- Tapestry needle for finishing
- Possibly stitch markers and row counters
Yarn consumption
- 1 skein of Infinity Hearts Ribbon
Abbreviations
dc - double crochet
ch - chain stitch
sl st - slip stitch
inc - increase (2 stitches in the same stitch)
htr – half treble
Instructions
Start by making 8 dc in a magic ring (8).
From here, you work with half trebles until otherwise instructed.
• inc x 8 (16)
• 1, inc x 8 (24)
• 2, inc x 8 (32)
• 3, inc x 8 (40)
• 4, inc x 8 (48)
• 5, inc x 8 (56)
• 6, inc x 8 (64)
• 7, inc x 8 (72)
Now the bottom of the basket is finished and you can begin making the sides. Proceed by making a round of front loop dc – finish with sl st. Now, you make htr again.
Begin each round with 1 ch, and finish the round with a sl st – you make a total of 10 rounds.
Once you have made the 10 rounds of htr, you make an edge – this is made with sl st all the way around.
Weave in ends and your bread basket is now finished. It is shown here with and without the folded edge.
