Free Crochet Pattern: Star Cloth

This Advent crochet pattern gives you a cloth shaped like a star. You can, of course, use it for whatever you like. It could e.g. be used as a placemat, a napkin for the Christmas table, or a dishcloth for the kitchen. It is entirely up to you. You can personalize the star cloth by making it in just one colour, or you can also choose to make more/other colour changes than what is suggested in the pattern.

• 2 stl. LED light

• 1 skein of Infinity Hearts Rose 8/4 Yarn Unicolour 156 Green
• 1 skein of Infinity Hearts Rose 8/4 Yarn Unicolour 19 Red

Abbreviations

s = stitch

ch = chain stitch

sl st = slip stitch

mr = magic ring

htr = half treble

* - * = States what to repeat x number of times

Instructions

The 2 ch at the beginning of each round counts as the first htr. You finish each round by joining with a sl st in the top one of the 2 ch from the beginning of the round. The colours and the colour changes are completely optional. You can change the colours however you like.

Start with green yarn

Rnd 1: make a mr, 2 ch, make 6 htr in mr, join with sl st

Rnd 2: 2 ch, 1 htr in the same s as the sl st from the previous round, *2 htr in each s* x 6, join with sl st

Rnd 3: 2 ch, *skip 1 s, 1 htr, 2 ch, 1 htr in the same s* x 6, skip 1 s, 1 htr in the same s as the sl st from the previous round, 2 ch, join with sl st

Rnd 4: 1 sl st, 1 sl st around the chain stitch, 2 ch, 1 htr around the same chain, 2 ch, 2 htr around the same chain, *2 htr around the chain, 2 ch, 2 htr around the same chain* x 6, join with sl st

Rnd 5: 2 sl st, 2 ch, *2 htr around the chain, 2 ch, 2 htr around the same chain, 1 htr, skip 2 s, 1 htr* x 6, 2 htr around the chain, 2 ch, 2 htr around the same chain, 1 htr, join with sl st

In the beginning of the next round, you change the colour to red. Make the first sl st in green and change to red with the second sl st.

If you want your cloth to be bigger, then continue to the desired size, so in every 3rd round, you only make 1 htr around the chain stitch, 2 ch, 1 htr around the same chain. In round 19, it would look nice with another colour change back to green, but it's entirely up to you what you want.

Bind off and weave in ends.
