Size

14cm X 10cm – folded and with the flagpole.

Tools/Materials

  • Flagpole: Wooden Table flagpole
  • Yarn: Shamrock Yarns 100% Cotton. Yarn length 50g = 175m.
  • Knitting Needles: Knitting needles 3mm – or the needle size you need to match the right knitting tension.
  • Knitting Tension: 26 s per 10cm.

Yarn consumption

1 red skein of yarn (colour code 21)

1 white skein of yarn (colour code 02)

1 blue skein of yarn (colour code 09)

s = stitch

You always slip the first stitch as if to purl with yarn in front. Always K1 for the last stitch.

Instructions

Cast on 28 s with red yarn, work stocking stitch (knit the right side, purl the wrong side) back and forth for 50 rounds, finish on the wrong side. Break the yarn.

Knit 10 rounds stocking stitch using white yarn. Break the yarn.

Knit 50 rounds more using red yarn.

Cast off.

Now embroider the pattern with Kitchener stitches, as indicated in the "Kitchener stitch pattern", on both parts of the flag, using the white and blue colours. Fasten the ends.

Fold the flag with the wrong sides facing each other. Use white thread and sew the white part together lengthwise to make a "casing" for the flagpole.

Use red thread and sew the long sides and short sides of the flag together.

Steam the flag gently.

Finally, insert the flagpole into the casing.
