Abbreviations

dc = double crochet

st(s) = stitch(es)

2in1 = This is an increase. 2 double crochets in one stitch

1in2 = This is a decrease. 2 stitches are worked together to form one stitch by picking up yarn as if you were working a dc, but instead of finishing it, you pick up yarn from the next stitch before finishing your double stitch.

Work 1 dc in every st on every round until the ears are the desired length. (The ears in the picture measure approx. 12.5 cm)

Remove the yarn but leave a longer yarn end to use for sewing the ears on where you want them on the lid. Bend the bottom of the ears so they are slightly C-shaped when you sew them on.

If you want, you can embroider the eyes and snout on the basket to give it that little extra detail. You can use any leftover yarn for this.
