Free crochet pattern for Easter chicken bag
A cute Easter Chicken bag crocheted from Infinity Hearts Rose Big cotton yarn. The bag is perfect to crochet for Easter, where you can use it for egg hunting or as a nice Easter decoration in your home.
Materials:
- Yarn: Infinity Hearts Rose Big. Contains 100% cotton. 50 grams = approx. 83 metres.
- Safety eyes size 14 mm
- Crochet hook size 3.5 mm
- Hobby scissors
- Needle for assembly
Yarn consumption:
- 2 balls of Infinity Hearts Rose Big yarn in the colour 179 Yellow
- 1 ball of Infinity Hearts Rose Big yarn in the colour 19 Red
Size:
The finished product measures approximately 17 cm in length and 10.5 cm in height.

THE BAG
Yellow yarn
Make 26 ch, the last ch is used for turning
Round 1. 2 dc in 2 sts from hook, 22 dc, 2 dc in the next st, 22 dc, 1 sl st (48 dc + 1 sl st)
Round 2. 1 ch, 2 dc in the first st, 23 dc, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc, 2 dc in the next st, 22 dc, 2 dc in the next st, 1 sl st (54 dc + 1 sl st)
Round 3. 1 ch, 2 dc in the first st, 22 dc, 2 dc in the next st, 2 dc, 2 dc in the next st, 23 dc, 2 dc in the next st, 3 dc, 1 sl st (58 dc + 1 sl st)
Round 4. 1 ch, 2 dc in the first st, 24 dc, 2 dc in the next st, 3 dc, 2 dc in the next st, 24 dc, 2 dc in the next st, 3 dc, 1 sl st (62 dc + 1 sl st)
Round 5. 1 ch, 2 dc in the first st, 26 dc, 2 dc in the next st, 4 dc, 2 dc in the next st, 24 dc, 2 dc in the next st, 4 dc, 1 sl st (66 dc + 1 sl st)

Cast off and fasten the yarn end
WINGS (make 2)
Yellow yarn
Round 1. 6 dc in a mr (6)
Round 2. 2 dc in every st (12)
Round 3. *1 dc, 2 dc in the next st* x6 (18)
Round 4-13. 1 dc in every st (18)
Squeeze the wing together and work dc through both sides stitches along the edge. Leave a long yarn end for attaching the wing to the bag.
THE BEAK
Red yarn
Round 1. 4 dc in a mr
Round 2. 2 dc in every st (8)
Round 3. *1 dc, 2 in the next st* x4 (12)
Round 4. *2 dc, 2 in the next st* x4 (16)
Rounds 5-7. 1 dc in each st (16)
Cast off, leaving a long thread for attaching the beak
THE HANDLE
Yellow yarn
Make 7 ch, using the last ch for turning (make sure your yarn end at ch-row is long enough to attach the handle on one side)
Row 1. Start in the 2nd stitch from your hook, make 1 dc in every ch, turn with 1 ch (5)
Row 2: 1 dc in each st, turn with 1 ch (5)
Repeat row 2 until your handle is the desired length
In the pattern pictures shown, 60 rows are worked.
ASSEMBLY
- Attach the safety eyes on round 19-20 with approx. 8 stitches in between.
- The nose is attached between the eyes a few rounds down (in the pattern pictures the eyes have been attached on rounds 14-17).
- Attach the wings on each side of the bag so that it is "flush" with the top of the eyes.
- The handle is also attached to each side of the bag at the top edge.
