Free crochet pattern for crocheted round beach bag with cherries

Now you can crochet the perfect bag for a nice trip to the beach. It's an easy crochet project to tackle, even for a beginner. The beach bag has a nice round design and is decorated with a crocheted cherry. However, the cherry can be left out if you don't have a red or green yarn scrap lying around. Otherwise you can find the colours here on the webshop. The cherry bag is crocheted in the soft infinity Hearts Rose Big cotton yarn, which can easily withstand a stint in the washing machine if the bag gets dirty.

The beach bag is crocheted from two round pieces that are sewn together with a long piece that makes up the sides, bottom and handle. You can also vary the length of this depending on how much you want the bag to hang when you have it around your shoulder.

Materials:

• Yarn: Infinity Hearts Rose Big. Contains 100% cotton. 50 g = approx. 83 m
• Crochet hook: size 3.5

Yarn consumption:

• 6 balls in colour 212 sand 
• A scrap of red and green for the cherry

Size:

40 cm in diameter.

Abbreviations

ch = chain stitch

dc = double crochet

sl st = slip stitch

tr = treble crochet

Instructions

FRONT AND BACK PIECE

Note: Finish each round with 1 sl st in 3 ch from beg of round.

1 round/ Make a magic ring and work 3 ch (replaces 1 tr) 11 tr around the ring.

2 round/ 3 ch, 1 tr in first st, 2 tr in each of the next 11 tr. (24 m)

3 round/3 ch, 1 tr in first st, 1 ch, *2 tr in next st, 1 st* Work sl sts until first ch loop on next round (this is done on all following rounds)

4-6 round/ ch 3, 2 tr in next st, ch 1, *3 tr in next ch, ch 1*, 1 sl st. Work sl sts until first ch loop on next round.

7 round/ ch 3, tr 1, ch 1, tr 2 in first ch loop, ch 1, *tr 2, ch 1, tr 2 in next ch loop, ch 1*

8 round/ 3 ch, 1 tr in first ch loop, 1 ch, *2 tr in next ch loop, 1 ch*

9-12 round/ Work as 4 round.

13 round/ ch 1, dc 1 in each dc. (190 st)

HANK, SIDE PIECES AND BOTTOM (Worked in one piece)

Cast on 250 ch and form a ring with 1 sl st.

Work a total of 6 rounds with 1 dc in every st.

ASSEMBLY:

Work side and bottom piece together with dc in the 190 sts on the front and back piece respectively, leaving 30 sts as an opening for the bag and 60 sts for the handle

CHERRY:

1 round/ make a magic ring and work 6 dc around the ring.

2 round/ 2 dc in every st (12 sts)

3 round/ *1 dc, 2 dc in next st* (18 sts)finish with 1 sl st. Work one more berry.

STEM AND LEAF:

Work 1 sl st in the first berry 8 ch = stem. Do not break the yarn but continue to work the leaf:

8 ch. Turn, skip 1 st, *1 dc, 1 htr, 1 tr, 1 htr, 1 dc, 1 sl st* Turn and work on the opposite side from *to*, 1 ch. Work a row of sl sts through the middle of the leaf. Continue to work another leaf, then 8 ch and 1 sl st in the second berry.

Sew the cherry on in the middle of the front of the bag.
