Measurements

The purse measures 21 x 12.5cm

Materials

Preparation

4 pieces of fabric measuring 14 x 23cm - two pieces for the outer fabric and two pieces for the lining.

2 pieces of fabric measuring 12 x 23cm – for pockets

4 pieces of fabric measuring 3 x 5cm

Instructions

1. First, prepare the zipper. Place two small pieces of fabric (3 x 5cm) along the zipper as illustrated in the photo. Sew across the zipper, cut off excess zipper fabric and fold down the pieces. Repeat at the other end. The fabric ends makes it possible to make the corners look nicer.

2. Prepare the pockets: On the two pieces measuring (12 x 23cm) you stitch one edge on both pieces of fabric. Fold the edge down slightly on one long side and iron the fabric to create a clear edge. Fold the edge again and iron. Use pins to keep the fabric in place and now sew along the edge.

3. Begin making the bag: Place the zipper with the back up against 1 piece of fabric (14 x 23cm), so that the “front” of the zipper is turned facing the fabric. Place another piece of fabric of the same size over it. Pin it joined and sew the fabric to the zipper.

4. Do the same with the other two pieces of fabric (14 x 23cm)

5. Create a fold on the outer pieces of fabric towards the zipper so that it comes closer to the zipper. Gently iron the edge without hitting the zipper. Do the same for the lining.

6. Keep the fabric in place with pins and sew. This gives the zipper a nicer edge.

7. Flip the fabric so that the two outer pieces are facing each other and the two pieces of lining are facing each other.

8. Between the two pieces of lining, place the small pieces of fabric with the stitched side facing the zipper.

9. Keep the fabric in place with pins and sew along the edge. Be sure to leave a little opening at the bottom so you can turn the right side out again.

10. Do the same for the two outer fabrics.

11. Turn the right side out of the lining and make a small stitch to close the hole.

12. Push the lining down into the bag. You can benefit from using the end of a pencil, a crochet hook, or the like, to push the corners thoroughly in place.
